Add a digital layer to the load carriers you produce

Load carrier designs last for decades, yet PPWR leaves only a few years to prepare. By embedding intelligence during production, you stay the specialist in your own product while CLC takes care of the digital layer.

  • Ready for PPWR

With connectivity built into your load carriers, you are prepared for PPWR's requirements well ahead of time.

  • A two-way partnership

You remain the specialist in the load carrier and CLC brings the digital layer, which turns your product into a connected load carrier that strengthens your position with customers.

  • Added customer value

You give customers a load carrier ready for insight and proof of reuse, with as little change to your production process as possible.

Built in from the start

Connectivity integrated into your load carrier production proces

Adding tracking technology after production costs labour, money and time on schedules that are already tight. CLC specifies the digital components that suit your load carrier, so you can integrate them during production and and make the digital layer part of your product from the start.

  • Integrate the digital layer into your existing production process wherever possible

  • Bring TTAN-compatible connected load carriers to market under your own name

  • Leave the platform and portal to CLC, so there is no software to build or maintain yourself

Ahead of regulation

PPWR readiness for load carrier manufacturers

PPWR makes the manufacturer of a reusable load carrier directly responsible for conformity, its documentation and, from February 2029, a digital marker that allows rotations to be tracked. Building connectivity now means your product lines are ready before those requirements take effect.

  • Bring product lines to market that are prepared for the 2029 digital marker requirement.

  • Offer customers load carriers whose rotations can be recorded once they activate CLC's services, which supports their own proof of reuse.

  • Receive anonymised, aggregated lifecycle insights from the field to inform future product development.

How CLC works with load carrier manufacturers

Working with CLC does not require you to become a technology company because each partner focuses on what it does best: you on physical design, materials and manufacturing scale and CLC on the digital layer that makes your load carriers connected.

  • 1. Define the requirements

Together we determine which digital components suit your load carrier and how it is used. Because CLC is not tied to one technology, the choice follows your product.

  • 2. Integrate during production

You build the components in during production, so each load carrier is connected from the moment it is made and leaves your factory as a TTAN-compatible asset.

  • 3. Customers activate the value

Your customers activate the services they need directly with CLC, such as availability or proof of reuse. Every receiver CLC installs becomes part of TTAN, an independent network for supply chains, while you receive anonymised lifecycle insights for product development.

What built-in connectivity changes for load carrier manufacturers

With CLC

  • Compliance through partnership

CLC provides the digital layer PPWR calls for, so you can meet upcoming requirements without building expertise outside your core business.

  • Ahead of your customers

Connected load carriers become part of your own range, so customers can get a digital-ready product directly from you.

  • Insight into your product

Anonymised, aggregated lifecycle insights show how your load carriers are used in the field, giving R&D facts to build on.

Without CLC

  • Digitalising on your own

Meeting PPWR's digital requirements alone means building technology and expertise that sit outside your core business.

  • Customers arrange it themselves

Customers who want connected load carriers have to organise the digital layer themselves or turn to another supplier.

  • Little insight after sale

Once a load carrier leaves your factory, there is little insight into how it is used, how it wears or why it fails.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to redesign our load carriers to make them connected?
That depends on the type of load carrier and your production process, which is why we look at it together with you. Wherever possible, we work out how the digital layer can be integrated into your existing production process, so changes to your product and process remain as limited as possible.
What does PPWR require from load carrier manufacturers?
PWR, the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, gives the manufacturer of a reusable load carrier its own legal role, which is heavier than the obligations of the companies that use them. As the manufacturer, you are responsible for the conformity assessment, the EU Declaration of Conformity and technical documentation that must be kept for ten years. A minimum number of rotations is expected to be set by February 2027 and from February 2029 every reusable load carrier must carry a QR code or digital marker that allows its rotations to be tracked. CLC helps you prepare by building a digital layer into your load carriers during production, so your product lines are ready before these requirements take effect.
Are connected load carriers active as soon as they leave our factory?
No. A TTAN-compatible load carrier is ready to be connected, but visibility, traceability and lifecycle insights only start once your customer activates them through a direct agreement with CLC.
Do we need our own software or data expertise to work with CLC?
No. CLC operates the platform, the portal and the compliance layer underneath your connected load carriers, so you can stay focused on design, materials and manufacturing.
Which technology does CLC use?
CLC is not tied to one technology and selects what fits the load carrier, its operating environment and the question your customers need answered, such as beacons, RFID or cellular solutions.

Load carrier manufacturers should not have to become technology companies to meet what the market and regulation will ask of their products. By embedding intelligence at the point of production, you stay the specialist in the load carrier itself while CLC becomes the specialist in the digital layer.
